Domino is an ancient game, which is still played by people around the world. It can be played by children or adults and is used in many different kinds of games.

Dominoes are rectangular, shaped pieces of wood or metal that measure approximately two inches (five centimeters) wide and twice as long as they are tall. They are commonly divided into two squares called ends and each end has a value, ranging from zero to six spots or pips.

In a standard set, there are 28 tiles, and each tile is numbered from 1 to 6 on one end of the piece. The highest-value piece has six pips on each end, and is called a “double-six.”

A domino is played in the United States as a block and draw game for two to four players. The first player draws a domino, and each of the other players draws at random the number of tiles they need to play the game.

Each player then adds the dominoes from his hand to a layout or tableau in the center of the table, aiming to make his opponents lose. There are several basic games, including blocking games in which the object is to empty one’s hand; scoring games that rely on creating specific configurations of tiles; and trick and trump games that use dominoes in conjunction with card tiles.

There is also a scoring version of 5s-and-3s, where the objective is to attach dominoes to the ends of previously played dominoes so that the sum of the end tiles is divisible by five or three. The player with the highest number of points wins the game.

Doyle’s leadership philosophy at Domino’s focused on listening to his employees and responding to their needs. This led to a number of changes, including a more relaxed dress code and an updated leadership training program.

He also introduced a new company culture, one based on the core values of “Champion Our Customers,” “Stop Complaints,” and “Honesty.” The new leadership style made Domino’s a more welcoming place to work, boosting employee morale while also improving customer service.

While his employees embraced the new philosophy, Doyle recognized that it required a lot of patience and hard work to change the company’s culture. This included making the company a more transparent place to work, hiring more people, and addressing complaints in a more timely manner.

Eventually, the changes were successful. The company regained its reputation as a quality pizza maker, and Doyle earned the Top Workplaces Leadership Award by the Detroit Free Press.

In addition, Doyle expanded Domino’s international presence by opening a restaurant in Italy. He also worked with crowd-sourced auto designers to create a purpose-built Domino’s delivery car, the DXP.

The company also reworked its advertising, adding more colors and patterns to the images of its products and logos. The changes helped Domino’s remain competitive with other pizza companies while attracting more people to its brand.
